Disaster & Emergency Response & Recover Fund

The San Francisco Disaster and Emergency Response and Recovery Fund is a response and recovery measure to ensure San Francisco’s ability to quickly respond to and recover from disaster and emergency events that impact the City and County of San Francisco, its residents, and its businesses.

Donors may designate the following categories of use for their funds:

  1. Disaster Fund for Housing (DFH)
    To provide shelter, food and other assistance to individuals and families in San Francisco who are impacted by a disaster or emergency event that affected San Francisco.
  2. Disaster Fund for Animals (DFA)
    For care, food and other assistance to animals and pets in San Francisco that are displaced or otherwise impacted by a disaster or emergency event that affected San Francisco.
  3. Disaster Fund for Infrastructure (DFI)
    To replace, repair and rebuild public buildings, infrastructure and other assets owned by the City of San Francisco that were damaged or rendered unusable as a result of a disaster or emergency.
  4. Disaster Fund not specified (DFN)
    Donations given not specified for a category above will be used wherever the funds are most needed.

This fund is managed by the City Administrator of the City and County of San Francisco, in collaboration with the Mayor and City Controller. Donations will not be spent for administration or overhead costs.
